English and French every day at our bilingual preschool : what it changes between the ages of 2 and 4.5

At the age of 2, a child makes a language their own through the situations they experience every day, without any visible effort. In our bilingual preschool, English and French are therefore part of the whole day (morning routines, songs, stories, lunch, playtime), with one adult for each language, who speaks only their own. The child associates a language with a person and with particular moments, and switches from one to the other without thinking about it. There are no English lessons in our bilingual preschool. Language is a tool used for learning and for communicating, and it is acquired through experience. Your child's day follows a rhythm of different activities, each with an educational objective, interspersed with periods of play. Your child learns through play without even realising it.

Does your child speak only French, only English, or a third language? That is the case for most children who start at our preschool. Within a few months, they will understand English and French.
