The role

We now wish to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced French Teacher on a full time and permanent basis from August 2021, to teach IGCSE French First Language and classes in our equivalent of KS3 and primary. French teaching is based on our internally developed curriculum and each class follows around six hours of French language and literature courses weekly. The successful candidate would also teach the geography and history of France, to develop a real understanding and appreciation of French culture within our pupils. Some of the timetable may also involve supporting small groups of pupils who are new to the French language. There is an expectation that the successful candidate will also contribute to OSI’s after-school programme and other curriculum enrichment activities.

We are seeking a professional who:

  • Is a native-level French speaker, with a good command of English and ideally experience of the requirements of the British curriculum.
  • Has a good honours degree and qualified teacher status.
  • Is an inspiring professional who enthuses his or her classes.

  • Is a fluent or native English speaker, with experience of the requirements of the British curriculum.
  • Has a strong level of competence in French and will be able to teach aspects of the curriculum in French from the outset, to help the school achieve its bilingual vision.
  • Has experience of teaching to GCSE/IGCSE and ideally A level.
  • Has a good honours degree and qualified teacher status.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a Primary Curriculum Coordinator for the English-medium subjects who wants to make a powerful impact on the lives of the children that he or she teaches, and is motivated, flexible, creative and hard-working. The Curriculum Coordinator will have day-to-day responsibility for the running of the area, and monitoring the progress, attainment and well-being of the pupils. He or she will also coordinate and support the work of the team and any EAL support teachers. There will also be a teaching requirement, and the Curriculum Coordinator will have his or her own class for normally around two days per week.

OSI’s expectation is that its school leaders at all levels:
