Who are we looking for?

We are looking for motivated, flexible, creative and hard-working English-speaking teachers for August 2023. The successful candidate will be:

  • An excellent practitioner with high expectations for all students and committed to ensuring they reach their full potential.
  • An inspiring professional who excites his or her classes and can teach English, mathematics and science.
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about education, with a good understanding of best practice.

  • Ideally, you already have previous teaching experience with students whose first language is not English.

All successful applicants will have an appropriate qualification, with a PGCE or other qualification leading to qualified or similar teacher status. A minimum of four years of experience in teaching the relevant age group is required. All teachers will be required to learn and use French, and will be provided with support for this purpose.

The role

We now wish to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced French Teacher on a full time and permanent basis from August 2023, to teach IGCSE French First Language and classes in our equivalent of KS3 and primary. French teaching is based on our internally developed curriculum and each class follows around six hours of French language and literature courses weekly. The successful candidate would also ideally teach the geography and history of France, to develop a real understanding and appreciation of French culture within our pupils. Some of the timetable may also involve supporting small groups of pupils who are new to the French language. There is an expectation that the successful candidate will also contribute to OSI’s after-school programme and other curriculum enrichment activities.

 

We are seeking a professional who:

  • Is a native-level French speaker, with a good command of English and ideally experience of the requirements of the British and/or IGCSE curriculum.
  • Has a good honours degree and qualified teacher status.
  • Is an inspiring professional who enthuses his or her classes.
  • Is enthusiastic and passionate about education, with a sound understanding of best practice.
  • Can demonstrate thorough curriculum knowledge and the capacity to teach their subject area with confidence.
  • Enjoys being a member of a team and always aims to work collaboratively.
  • The ability to also teach Spanish would be an advantage.

All our pupils take separate sciences from the start of the secondary years and sit the IGCSE Edexcel qualifications. There is also an expectation that the successful candidate will contribute to OSI’s after-school programme, and there is excellent potential for the development of science curriculum enrichment activities. We now wish to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced teacher for science on a full time and permanent basis from August 2023, to teach all three sciences in our equivalent of KS3 and KS4. The details of the timetable will be confirmed after appointment. We are seeking a professional who:

  • Is a fluent or native English speaker, with experience of the requirements of the British curriculum.
  • Has a strong level of competence in French and will be able to teach aspects of the curriculum in French from the outset, to help the school achieve its bilingual vision.
  • Has experience of teaching to GCSE/IGCSE and ideally A level.
  • Has a good honours degree and qualified teacher status.
  • Is an inspiring professional who enthuses his or her classes.
  • Is enthusiastic and passionate about education, with a sound understanding of best practice.
  • Can demonstrate thorough curriculum knowledge and the capacity to teach their subject area with confidence.
  • Enjoys being a member of a team and always aims to work collaboratively.
  • The ability to teach Spanish would be an advantage.

As we are a bilingual school, all teachers are required to speak French. For teachers who need support, private lessons with a tutor will be provided by the school.
